This regulation really does undermine women's sports, so I introduced legislation that would establish a day, October 10th, as ‘American Girls in Sports Day.’ The Democrats went to the floor and blocked that resolution, but October 10th should still be a day we set aside and celebrate our female athletes. In the last 50 years, since the signing of Title IX, female athletes have really gone from the sidelines to center stage. That is something to celebrate.” – Senator Blackburn

RELATED:

Senate Democrats Block Blackburn’s Effort to Establish “American Girls in Sports Day”

Blackburn Leads Resolution To Recognize ‘American Girls In Sports Day’", 1, "2026-03-30T01:40:41Z", "2026-04-07T21:57:20Z
url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at
url
https://www.blackburn.senate.gov/2024/10/issues/women/video-blackburn-celebrates-female-athletes-on-october-10
