As Labor/HHS chairman, Blunt started the WORC initiative in 2018 and\r\nhas worked to include funding for the program in subsequent Labor/HHS\r\nappropriations bills. Our nation is making tremendous progress in the fight\r\nagainst the virus, but we need to ensure we're also doing all we can to\r\novercome the significant economic challenges facing Americans, said Blunt.\r\nI'm glad these two workforce development initiatives will help hardworking\r\nMissourians gain the skills they need to create a better future for themselves\r\nand their families. I appreciate the Delta Regional Authority for investing in\r\nthese programs, which will help Missourians get ahead and aid our state's\r\neconomic recovery.  Following are the details of the grant funding: Delta Area Economic Opportunity Corporation: DRA Investment:\r\n$150,000: The Delta Area Economic Opportunity Corporation in Portageville, Mo.,\r\nwill use DRA funding to provide apprenticeships, on-the-job training, and\r\nagricultural entrepreneurial opportunities to meet the identified workforce\r\nneeds of the agribusiness and agriculture-adjacent industries. The investment\r\nis projected to train up to 50 individuals throughout six counties in Southeast\r\nMissouri. In September, the Delta Area Economic Opportunity Corporation\r\nreceived $1,209,301 in WORC grant funding. Missouri State University  West Plains: DRA Investment:\r\n$130,000: Missouri State University  West Plains will use the DRA funding to\r\npurchase needed equipment for advanced workforce training in robotics. The\r\ninvestment is projected to train 50-75 individuals, including dislocated\r\nworkers, new entrants in the workforce, incumbent workers, and underrepresented\r\ngroups such as women, veterans, minority groups, and individuals with\r\ndisabilities.
