{"database": "press", "table": "releases", "rows": [["https://www.blunt.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/videos?ContentRecord_id=410786A1-F2FD-4854-8FE7-51FCCD4A8581", "VIDEO: Blunt Marks National Adoption Month & National Adoption Day", "2017-11-17", "2017", "2017-11", "Republican", "House", "MO", "Roy Blunt", "B000575", "www.blunt.senate.gov", null, null, "legacy", "WASHINGTON \u2013 This week, U.S. Senator Roy Blunt (Mo.), co-chair of the Congressional Coalition on Adoption, spoke on the Senate floor following passage of his resolution marking November as National Adoption Month and November 18 as National Adoption Day.\r\n\r\nFollowing are excerpts from Blunt\u2019s remarks:\r\n   \u201cMr. President, it\u2019s good for both of us, and our colleagues, to be thinking this month about Adoption Month [and] to recognize the celebration of National Adoption Day, which will occur this Saturday. I have the real privilege of serving as co-chair of Coalition on Adoption with Senator Klobuchar from Minnesota. It\u2019s an opportunity not only for us to work together in a bipartisan way, but at an event we were at just the other day I was told that the adoption caucus, House and Senate, is the biggest caucus of either body and the biggest caucus of the congress, and of course it should be. It\u2019s built on the idea that kids have to have the need of a family and that there are families out there that want to adopt kids, and whether that\u2019s nationally, domestically, or internationally, we really work hard to try to make that more possible. \u2026 \u201cMore than 400,000 children now in the United States are also in the foster care system, and more than 100,000 of those 400,000 kids are ready and waiting for families that they can call their own\u2026 We can be looking carefully at the children in our system now, we both looked and others have joined us in that of looking at the foster care system, of ensuring that behavioral health screening happens within 30 days of getting into that system, because once you get into that foster care system, often it\u2019s because of unavoidable challenges that families face and often it\u2019s because of challenges that kids should never have to face so that early evaluation of what is going on there can really make a difference in how foster kids are dealt with in the system and how they get ready as 100,000 of them now are to leave the foster care system and be adopted.\r\n\u201cThis is a time when we ought to be thinking not only about the obstacles to adoption, the things that encourage adoption but also how we can make the support system for both adoption and foster care and adoption out of foster care work better.\u201d\r\nCLICK HERE To Watch Senator Blunt\u2019s Full Remarks", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://www.blunt.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/videos?ContentRecord_id=410786A1-F2FD-4854-8FE7-51FCCD4A8581"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 0.6972730625420809, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
