The Council would be tasked with advising the president and advancing national priorities related to physical fitness, sports participation and nutrition awareness, ensuring Americans are able to live healthy lives and support the nation\u2019s future workforce and military readiness.\n\n\u201cIt\u2019s important to help young Arkansans build good habits including engaging in a physically active, healthy lifestyle,\u201dsaid Boozman. \u201cThis bill uses a proven tool to accomplish that in addition to promoting long-term benefits for public health and personal well-being that serve to strengthen our nation.\"\n\n\u201cFor decades, the Presidential Fitness Test, enacted by Kansas\u2019 own President Eisenhower, motivated millions of young Americans to push themselves, stay active, and take pride in their physical accomplishments,\u201d said Marshall. \u201cThat same competitive spirit is what built America, and it\u2019s time to restore that legacy.\u201d\n\n\u201c\u2018Make America Healthy Again\u2019 starts with making sure our children are physically active and develop healthy habits early in their lives. One way to achieve this is by building on President Trump\u2019s effort to bring back the Presidential Fitness Test in our schools so the next generation learns to love fitness and understands the countless benefits that come with leading an active lifestyle,\u201d said Britt.\n\nArkansas has created a framework to reestablish the Presidential Fitness Test alongside continued efforts to bolster access to nutritious foods and resources that can best support healthy lifestyles for Natural State youth.\n\nSpecifically, the Presidential Fitness Test Act of 2025:\n\nReestablishes the Presidential Fitness Test and award;\n\nAddresses public health and national security concerns linked to obesity and inactivity;\n\nExpands access to youth and community sports;\n\nDevelops school-based physical education challenges; and\n\nCodifies the President\u2019s Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition, comprising up to 30 presidential appointees.\n\nThe President\u2019s Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition was first created in 1956 to promote youth health and physical activity nationwide and has encouraged millions of American students to pursue active lifestyles.", 1, "2026-03-30T01:40:41Z", "2026-04-06T20:09:11Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://www.boozman.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/press-releases?ID=20C1E348-94A6-42E6-AB1E-C53688EDFB83"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 0.8981130085885525, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
