The VA grant program leverages and supports veteran-serving nonprofits and other community networks in order to reduce and prevent veteran suicides. The first grants were awarded in September 2022.\n\n\u201cWe all know that suicide is really complex. It\u2019s a complicated crisis. There is no single solution. We also know that if people are in the VA system, they\u2019re less likely to commit suicide,\u201d Boozman said in the committee hearing Wednesday. \u201cOne of the things that we\u2019ve worked on is to make it such to capture those folks that are outside of the system, get them some help in the community and then ultimately bring them into the VA where they can get additional help.\u201d\n\nVA officials recommended updating the way grantees ask questions to veterans so that they may have the most flexibility possible to serve those who come to their organizations for help.", 1, "2026-03-30T01:40:41Z", "2026-04-06T18:35:26Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://www.boozman.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/press-releases?ID=B596AEFD-50DC-4E47-A354-9FA04971534A"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 1.6219678800553083, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
