Today, President Trump signed the bill into law. In addition to bolstering our nation\u2019s defense, the FY26 NDAA includes several measures secured by Senator Britt that will directly benefit Alabama.\n\n\u201cThe NDAA has passed annually for 65 years in a row and is one of our nation\u2019s most important pieces of legislation. I\u2019m proud to have supported the FY26 NDAA, which executes on President Trump\u2019s and Senate Republicans\u2019 commitment to strengthen our nation\u2019s military capabilities and warfighter, ensure America remains equipped to meet 21st-century threats, and maintain our global military leadership,\u201d said Senator Britt.\n\nThe FY26 NDAA returns the Department of War to its warfighting mission, assists President Trump in securing our border and defending our homeland, builds on military recruitment efforts that continue to reach record highs, strengthens deterrence in the Indo-Pacific, and pushes back against Russian aggression and terrorist activity. The legislation also includes a number of wins for Alabama.\n\nOn how the FY26 NDAA delivers for Alabama, Senator Britt said, \u201cThe role that Alabama plays in our national defense is incalculable. Ensuring our state continues to play a central role in bolstering our warfighter and defense capabilities is pivotal, and I\u2019m proud to have helped deliver continued investment in our state.\u201d\n\nAlabama Wins in the FY26 NDAA:\n\nMilitary Construction at Alabama Bases:\n\n$50 million for an access control point at the Anniston Army Depot.\n\n$55 million for a propulsion systems building at Redstone Arsenal.\n\n$64 million for a general-purpose warehouse at the DLA distribution center in Anniston.\n\n$28 million for area maintenance support activity at Maxwell Air Force Base.\n\nBolstering Innovation through Investments in Defense Capabilities:\n\n$3.9 million for missile enhancement with electric motor prototypes\n\n$7 million for infantry support weapons, including combat aviation aircrew enhancement\n\n$18 million for air defense command, control, and intelligence, including air and missile defense common operating picture\n\n$239 million for M-VEST for Maneuver-Short Range Air Defense (M-SHORAD)\n\n$10 million for an embedded hypersonic seeker in Navy RDT&E\n\nThe FY26 NDAA also addresses readiness concerns at Alabama bases, including the understaffing of gate guards like at Redstone Arsenal by authorizing contract guards to augment existing force protection options at military installations, expedites construction of Space Command\u2019s headquarters in Huntsville, and more.\n\nIt also overhauls the broken acquisition system so companies in Alabama can get new programs moving faster and with less red tape.
