During this hearing, Senator Britt questioned character witnesses who were called before the committee to testify to the nomination of Acting AG Blanche.

During the hearing, Senator Britt pressed former Department of Justice Pardon Attorney Elizabeth Oyer about commutation and pardon recommendations she made under President Joe Biden. She also questioned Jennifer Bos, the mother of Megan Bos, who tragically lost her life to a fentanyl overdose in April 2025. Megan’s body was concealed for months by an illegal alien before it was found. Senator Britt also heard testimony from Dani Bensky, an Epstein survivor and advocate.

Senator Britt began by addressing the tragedy of Megan Bos, saying to her mother Jennifer, “Mrs. Bos, thank you for sharing your story. Reliving the worst day in your life [and] being willing to tell your story so that people hear it. [I] really appreciate it, and I am so sorry for your loss.”

She then asked, “Do you think that when someone is killed at the hands of an illegal alien, that their representation in Congress, Senator, Congressmen, should meet with that family?” Mrs. Bos agreed, and Senator Britt followed up by saying, “It’s my understanding that there are many angel families that cannot get meetings with their senators. Have you heard that?”

Mrs. Bos agreed, noting that the first time she ever heard from the Ranking Member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, of whom she is a constituent, was at this hearing. Senator Britt continued, “I heard, actually, the Ranking Member yesterday talk about the need for the Attorney General to meet with victims, which I support, and I certainly am hopeful that he and others will meet with you. Sheridan Gorman and other names need to be said, and I think the accountability that we have in this room for other people, we should be able to have it for this body as well. So, I certainly hope that you get your face-to-face meeting that you deserve.”

Senator Britt then questioned Jeffrey Epstein Survivor Dani Bensky: “I am so sorry for everything you’ve been through, and thank you for your courage for being here today and being able to elevate your voice. I completely support your quest to be able to be heard, obviously for victims to be protected and for us to pursue every, every lead possible, and I do believe, after my conversations with the [Deputy] Attorney General, that that he is going to pursue those.”

She continued, “Let me ask you this: … [W]ere you asked in the previous administration, [or] did you ever have an opportunity to sit down with the then-Attorney General, Merrick Garland?”

Miss Bensky confirmed that she did not sit down with Attorney General Merrick Garland, nor did she or the group she represents ever request a face-to-face meeting with him. Senator Britt also noted that her colleague, Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.), adamantly requested the release of Epstein-related records and investigations into Jeffrey Epstein during the Ranking Member’s then-Chairmanship of the committee and under Joe Biden’s presidency. Despite Senator Blackburn’s efforts, no hearings were ever held under Democratic leadership.

In her last line of questioning, Senator Britt pressed Elizabeth Oyer, a former Biden DOJ official who recommended clemency for all federal death row inmates, including the Charleston church shooter and the Boston Marathon bomber:

“After you were fired from [the] DOJ, you had an independent media company and a Substack platform, and you had … hoodies that said ‘Hardwired to stand up to bullies’ … It’s my understanding that, as a pardon attorney during the Biden Administration, you recommended actual commutations for Daniel Troya and Ricardo Sanchez Jr., who were sentenced to death in 2009 after executing a family of four on the side of a highway … the victims included a four-year-old and a three-year-old boy who died while cradled in the arms of their mother, who was trying to shield them. Those two little boys were shot ten times, and their mother was shot 11 times, and their father was shot five times … that doesn’t sound like to me that you stand up to bullies. It sounds like to me you stand with them.”

You can view the Senator’s full line of questioning here.

###", 1, "2026-07-22T07:34:13Z", "2026-07-22T07:35:16Z
url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at
url
https://www.britt.senate.gov/news/press-releases/u-s-senator-katie-britt-participates-in-day-two-of-nomination-hearing-of-acting-attorney-general-todd-blanche/
