Sherrod Brown\u2019s (D-OH) provision that requires the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) to consider additional funding for Cincinnati\u2019s Smale Riverfront Park. The bill now heads to President Obama\u2019s desk to be signed into law.\r\n\u201cThe Army Corps of Engineers\u2019 investment in Smale Riverfront Park has been critical to its revitalization and is a clear example of how public-private partnerships can spur economic development,\u201d Brown said. \u201cThe park is already an essential part of the city and continued federal and local investment is good for Cincinnati and for our state.\u201d\r\nCurrently, USACE is unable allocate any additional funds to the park without a feasibility study. Under Brown\u2019s provision \u2013 included in the Water Infrastructure Investments for the Nation Act, formerly called the Water Resources Development Act of 2016 (WRDA) \u2013 a feasibility study is required within 180 days of review, opening the door for new investment. Brown worked with the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works to ensure this provision was included.\r\nThe Cincinnati Riverfront Project helps link the Central Riverfront attractions to Downtown Cincinnati and other riverfront parks including Theodore M.
