Sherrod Brown (D-OH) hosted a news conference call to alert Ohioans about ways they can enroll in a new healthcare plan or update their current coverage. The deadline for Ohioans to sign up for coverage or change their plan is Friday, December 15th.\r\nOhioans can enroll or change their healthcare plan in a variety of ways:\r\n\r\n \r\nBy Phone: Call the Marketplace Call Center at 1-800-318-2596 with questions or to enroll over the phone.\r\n \r\n \r\nIn-Person: Visit\u00a0LocalHelp.HealthCare.gov\u00a0or call the Marketplace Call Center at 1-800-318-2596 to obtain a list of assisters in northeast Ohio who are trained and certified to help individuals enroll in person.\r\n \r\n\u201cOf course we still have a lot to do to improve our healthcare system, and I\u2019m ready to work with folks on both sides of the aisle to lower premiums and prescription drug costs,\u201d said Sen. Brown. \u201cBut free assistance sites can help many Ohioans find cheaper overage, right now, during open enrollment.\u201d\r\nSince 2013, more than 900,000 Ohioans have obtained insurance coverage through the health law \u2014 many for the first time. Last year, many Ohioans who shopped around for coverage were able to find cheaper coverage.\u00a0\r\nBrown was joined on the call by Mary Bohn, a Dayton small business owner who will save hundreds of dollars on her 2018 health insurance plan thanks to the Affordable Care Act and her work with a healthcare enrollment assister.\u00a0\r\n\u201cFor\u00a02017 and 2018 coverage, I had discovered Resolute, in Dayton, Ohio, who also have been extremely helpful in researching the\u00a0health plans I qualified for\u00a0with major carries, and they also fit my specific\u00a0health needs and were affordable.
