My heart goes out to the Davenport family, and I\r\nhope that this legislation will play at least a small role in ensuring the care\r\nand protection of our children,\" said Senator Richard Burr.\r\n\r\n\r\nNamed after Kilah Davenport, a young girl born and raised in\r\nNorth Carolina who was the victim of severe abuse, this bill would require the\r\nU.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) to issue a report detailing penalties for\r\nchild abuse in each state, the District of Columbia, and U.S.\r\nterritories.
