I don\u2019t have a full sense of when, but there are a lot of negotiations across party lines to talk about the appropriations process, how important it is. I\u2019m hopeful that is what\u2019s going to be the impetuous that pulls us out of this. We\u2019ve had an option for the last thirty-five days to open the government. All this angst of who\u2019s getting paid and what\u2019s happening to government services should have never happened. By this time, we could\u2019ve had a negotiated settlement on the health care premiums, but instead, the Democrats decided, under Chuck Schumer\u2019s leadership, to force the American people into a very painful situation.\u201d\n\nON REFORMING THE BROKEN OBAMACARE SYSTEM: \u201cReform has to be a part of this\u2026We\u2019ve been pushing for [reforms] for years that we think will push the price and the premium down\u2026We need to fix this issue. There needs to be participation from every side of the aisle, government, the health care industry, insurance companies, pharmaceuticals, all of us need to come together to work on health inflation. That\u2019s what\u2019s getting lost in this argument. We\u2019re saying, how are we going to meet these large increases, but let\u2019s meet the challenge of pulling those increases down, that\u2019s what we as Republicans are about.\u201d\n\nON PRESIDENT TRUMP\u2019S TRADE DEALS: \u201cI support the president advantaging the American worker with reciprocal trade. My state of West Virginia was hollowed out by NAFTA and other trade agreements, where we were disadvantaged, and we lost a lot of industry and a lot of jobs. I want to see that get back to an equilibrium, that\u2019s what the president is trying to do. I believe once this all settles, and the uncertainty has been too lengthy here, if the president settles this all out like you see him doing with Cambodia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Japan, and others, what you\u2019re going to see is the American worker\u2019s wages going up, more work available, more jobs available\u2026 [West Virginia] is an energy state. We have coal, natural gas, wind, geothermal. Anytime you\u2019re bringing jobs back into the United States, any time you\u2019re creating industries, you\u2019re creating a need for more energy. That\u2019s right where West Virginia\u2019s wheelhouse is.
