Carper will talk to seniors about Medicare Part D benefits and open enrollment, which ends tomorrow, Dec. 7, at the Middletown Senior Center. Thanks to the Affordable Care Act, Medicare benefits for the 150,000 Medicare enrollees in Delaware include lower prescription drug costs through a 50 percent discount on covered brand name drugs in the coverage gap \u2013 or \u201cdonut hole\u201d \u2013 as well as wellness checkups and access to certain preventive care with no copayments.\r\nTime: 11:30 a.m. \u2013 12:30 p.m.\r\nLocation: Middletown Senior Center, 300 S Scott St, Middletown, Del.\r\nSen. Carper will tour Christiana Care\u2019s Middletown Emergency Department facility. The $37 million, 36,500-square-foot facility opened last spring. The facility includes 18 treatment bays and eight observation-unit beds staffed by board-certified physicians and specially trained nurses 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
