This approval will bring investment and good high-paying jobs to Louisiana.\r\n\u00a0\r\n\u201cThere is a tremendous global demand for American natural gas. US LNG should be freely available to our allies around the globe without administrative hurdles. Congress should take action to remove barriers for US LNG deliveries around the globe.\u201d\r\n\u00a0\r\nBackground:\r\n\u00a0\r\nThe DOE authorized Magnolia LNG for the export of 1.08 billion cubic feet per day to non-free trade agreement countries. Following this decision, cumulative DOE authorized non-FTA export volume will be 16.304 Bcf/d.\r\n\u00a0\r\nMagnolia has proposed a large-scale export facility near Lake Charles, Louisiana.\r\n\u00a0\r\nDr. Cassidy has been a strong advocate on this issue and has sent multiple letters to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission in support of Magnolia LNG\u2019s export authorization. The most recent letter from January 27, 2016 can be read here.\r\n\u00a0\r\nIn the US House of Representatives, Dr. Cassidy was an original co-sponsor of the Domestic Prosperity and Global Freedom Act, HR 6, which would expedite exports of US liquefied natural gas (LNG).
