Among other things, the legislation would expand information regarding refunds available to taxpayers online and help taxpayers with payment plans if they need it.\n\n\u201cTaxpayers deserve a simple, stress-free experience when dealing with the IRS,\u201dsaid Dr. Cassidy. \u201cThis bill makes the process quicker and easier for taxpayers to get the information they need.\u201d\n\nIn a U.S. Senate Finance Committee hearing today, Cassidy secured a commitment from President Donald Trump\u2019s IRS Chief Executive Officer Frank Bisignano that the IRS would work with Congress to implement these reforms if the legislation were signed into law.\n\n\u201cI\u2019m happy to meet with the team \u2026 and do all I can to make it as good as you want it to be,\u201dsaid Mr. Bisignano.\n\nThe Improving IRS Customer Service Act would:\n\nEstablish a dashboard to inform taxpayers of backlogs and wait times;\n\nExpand electronic access to information and refunds;\n\nExpand callback technology and online accounts;\n\nInform individuals facing economic hardship of collection alternatives.\n\nCassidy was joined by U.S. Senator Mark Warner (D-VA) in introducing the legislation.]\n\n###", 1, "2026-04-16T05:48:36Z", "2026-04-16T05:50:08Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://www.cassidy.senate.gov/newsroom/press-releases/cassidy-introduces-bill-to-make-irs-easier-to-navigate-for-taxpayers/"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 1.6839359886944294, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
