The resolution expresses support for police officers across the country, honors those killed or injured in the line of duty, and calls for increased resources for law enforcement.\n\n\u201cLaw enforcement officers run toward danger so the rest of us can live safely,\u201dsaid Dr. Cassidy. \u201cWe should stand with them, honor their sacrifice, and make sure they have the support they need.\u201d\n\nCassidy was joined by U.S. Senators Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), Katie Britt (R-AL), Steve Daines (R-MT), Jim Justice (R-WV), Dave McCormick (R-PA), Eric Schmitt (R-MO), Rick Scott (R-FL), Ben Ray Luj\u00e1n (D-NM), and Raphael Warnock (D-GA) in introducing the resolution.\n\n\u201cNational Police Week is an important time to recognize the sacrifices law enforcement officers have made to serve and protect our communities,\u201d said Senator Blackburn. \u201cAs Democrats work to undermine law enforcement at every turn, Republicans will do everything in our power to support the work these men and women do to safeguard the American people every day.\u201d\n\n\u201cThis National Police Week, we honor the unwavering commitment and dedication of our law enforcement officers, including those who made the ultimate sacrifice,\u201d said Senator Britt. \u201cAcross our nation, these brave men and women risk their lives to protect our communities, leaving their homes and putting themselves in harm\u2019s way so we can safely return to ours. Each and every day, they courageously put the safety of others above of their own.
