{"database": "press", "table": "releases", "rows": [["https://www.cochran.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/news-releases?ContentRecord_id=77fa74fc-f0f1-4eb9-9a40-23d58278a275", "SENATE APPROVES DUCK STAMP LEGISLATION", "2014-12-03", "2014", "2014-12", "Republican", "House", "MS", "Thad Cochran", "C000567", "www.cochran.senate.gov", null, null, "legacy", "WASHINGTON, D.C. \u2013 The U.S. Senate has approved legislation supported by U.S. Senator Thad Cochran (R-Miss.) that will direct more resources toward the conservation of waterfowl habitat through the Migratory Bird Conservation Fund.\r\nThe Senate on Tuesday gave final congressional approval to the Federal Duck Stamp Act of 2014 (HR.5069/S.2621), which amends the Migratory Bird Hunting and Conservation Stamp Act to update the price of duck stamps for the first time since 1991.\u00a0 HR.5069, which will now be sent to the White House, requires additional revenue from the sale of duck stamps to be used for conservation easements.\u00a0 The legislation is supported by Ducks Unlimited\u00a0and other organizations.\u00a0\r\n\u201cThis is sound bipartisan legislation with support from hunting groups that will help ensure better protection of waterfowl and migratory bird habitat,\u201d said Cochran, a long-time member of the Migratory Bird Conservation Commission who cosponsored S.2621.\r\n\u201cThe benefit of this program is that nearly 100 percent of the proceeds from the Duck Stamps go toward the protection of wetland habitat,\u201d he said.\r\nThe Federal Duck Stamp Act of 2014 will adjust the price of the duck stamps, which are required to hunt migratory waterfowl.\u00a0 The legislation prohibits new land acquisitions and requires the revenues generated from the fee increase to be used solely for migratory bird easements.\u00a0 The bill also gives the Department of the Interior the authority to lower the price of the stamps if the price changes result in less revenue generated for the Migratory Bird Conservation Fund.\r\nS.2621 was introduced by Senator David Vitter (R-La.) and cosponsored by Cochran and Senators Kelly Ayotte (R-N.H.), Mark Begich (D-Alaska), John Boozman (R-Ark.), John Cornyn (R-Texas), Chris Coons (D-Del.), Mike Crapo (R-Idaho), Tom Harkin (D-Iowa), Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska), Rob Portman (R-Ohio), Mark Pryor (D-Ark.), Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.), Jon Tester (D-Mont.), Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) and Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.).\u00a0 HR.5069, introduced by Rep.
