He has been involved in the delivery of care and services to the states veterans, including those in the most rural areas, since his retirement from the U.S. Navy in 2008. A combat veteran, most of Reeves 27-year military career was spent overseas with multiple deployments in various parts of the world. Cochran, as chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee, in May oversaw committee passage of the FY2016 Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Bill that would increase funding for veterans in vital areashealth care, benefit claims processing, medical research and technology upgrades. The bill also includes necessary and new oversight measures, such as whistleblower protections, to help ensure improved VA services to veterans. ###", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://www.cochran.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/news-releases?ContentRecord_id=e46efe90-0b05-4d0b-b8cf-07c1f48399d9"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 1.0714530944824219, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
