The projects in this bill were approved as part of the negotiation that Senator Collins led to reopen the federal government. The legislation, which was officially approved by the U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives, will now be signed into law by the President.\n\n\u201cEvery day, first responders selflessly put their lives on the line to serve communities throughout Maine,\u201d said Senator Collins. \u201cThis funding will help to ensure that Maine\u2019s fire fighters and emergency response professionals have the adequate facilities needed to do their jobs as effectively and safely as possible. As the Chair of the Appropriations Committee, I worked hard to secure this important funding.\u201d\n\nFunding secured by Senator Collins for Maine fire stations and emergency services in the FY 2026 Agriculture Appropriations bill is as follows:\n\nBelgrade Fire and Rescue Station\n\nRecipient: Town of Belgrade\n\nProject Location: Belgrade, ME\n\nAmount Requested: $4,700,000\n\nProject Purpose: To construct a fire and rescue station.\n\nMarshfield Fire Station\n\nRecipient: Marshfield Volunteer Fire Department\n\nProject Location: Marshfield, ME\n\nAmount Requested: $756,000\n\nProject Purpose: To construct a fire station.\n\nSt. Agatha Fire Station\n\nRecipient: Town of St. Agatha\n\nProject Location: St. Agatha, ME\n\nAmount Requested: $345,000\n\nProject Purpose: To expand the fire station.\n\nSt. Albans Fire Station\n\nRecipient: Town of St. Albans\n\nProject Location: St. Albans, ME\n\nAmount Requested: $1,520,000\n\nProject Purpose: To construct a fire station.\n\nSwan\u2019s Island Fire and Ambulance Station\n\nRecipient: Town of Swan\u2019s Island\n\nProject Location: Swan\u2019s Island, ME\n\nAmount Requested: $1,444,000\n\nProject Purpose: To expand the fire and ambulance station.\n\nThomaston Fire and EMS Facility\n\nRecipient: Town of Thomaston\n\nProject Location: Thomaston, ME\n\nAmount Requested: $3,500,000\n\nProject Purpose: To construct a fire and EMS facility.\n\nIn 2021, Congress reinstituted Congressionally Directed Spending. Following this decision, Senator Collins has secured more than $1 billion for hundreds of Maine projects for FY 2022, FY 2023, and FY 2024.
