The 8-chair dental clinic is expected to serve approximately 7,200 patients each year and will provide acute and walk-in dental care services.\n\nDental care access in Waldo County is limited, especially for MaineCare, uninsured, and underinsured patients, and the new clinic will help reduce reliance on emergency departments for urgent dental needs.\n\n\u201cDental care is an integral part of overall health care, yet too many families in Maine\u2019s rural communities face long wait times and long drives to receive the services they need,\u201d said Senator Collins. \u201cIn Waldo County, there are more than 5,700 residents for every dentist, more than twice the state average. The Seaport Dental Center is an outstanding example of how a community-based facility can help close that gap.
