The event also recognized \u201cNational Maine Day,\u201d which occurs today, December 21st.\n\n\u201cI enjoyed touring the new station and speaking with Plymouth\u2019s firefighters and town leaders about how this facility will improve their ability to respond to emergencies and keep people safe,\u201d said Senator Collins. \u201cI was pleased to advocate for federal funding to support the Town of Plymouth\u2019s new fire station through last year\u2019s funding bill, and I will continue to champion federal investments that help to ensure the safety of first responders and communities throughout Maine.\u201d\n\nFollowing Senator Collins, Bradley Foss, the Deputy Chief of the Plymouth Fire Department, spoke to those in attendance. Deputy Chief Foss discussed a recent near-carbon monoxide poisoning, when a local household was using a power generator without proper ventilation. Fortunately, tragedy was avoided in that case, but as countless Mainer\u2019s power-up their backup generators in response to the widespread electrical outages this week, Deputy Chief Foss wanted to stress the life-or-death importance of proper generator safety to those in Plymouth and throughout the State of Maine.\n\nSenator Collins, Vice Chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee, secured $800,000 in Congressionally Directed Spending last year to replace the Town of Plymouth\u2019s aging fire station that had fallen into disrepair.
