Beginning in 2007, and each December since, Wreaths Across America, based out of Columbia Falls, Maine, has placed a remembrance Wreath at the U.S. Capitol Building. The wreath laid at the U.S. Capitol is adorned with flags representing each branch of the U.S. Armed Forces and POWs/MIAs, and it is decorated with a red bow.\nDuring the ceremony, which coincided with similar ceremonies at all 50 state capitols across our country, Senators Collins and King delivered remarks and joined in a moment of silence to reflect on the holiday season and to honor and remember our nation\u2019s veterans and their families for their service and sacrifices.\n\u00a0\n\u201cWreaths Across America is a powerful demonstration of respect and appreciation for our veterans \u2013 both those that we\u2019ve lost and those still with us,\u201d said Senators Collins and King in a joint statement. \u201cIn this season of giving, the thoughts of all Americans turn to those who have given us the most precious gift of all: our freedom.\u00a0 All Mainers should be proud that Wreaths Across America, this heartfelt expression of America\u2019s gratitude, began in our State.\u201d\n\u00a0\nA convoy of volunteers and thousands of Maine-made balsam wreaths departed from Maine yesterday, December 10th, and are scheduled to arrive at Arlington National Cemetery on December 16th.\u00a0 Thousands of volunteers are expected to lay the wreaths at the graves of each American veteran.\u00a0 In addition to Arlington National Cemetery, volunteers will place approximately 1.2 million wreaths at over 1,200 locations in all 50 states and numerous national veteran cemeteries on foreign soil.", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://www.collins.senate.gov/newsroom/senators-collins-and-king-participate-wreaths-across-america-ceremony-us-capitol"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 0.7240648847073317, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
