U.S. Sen. Chris Coons (D-Del.), a\r\nmember of the Senate Appropriations and Foreign Relations Committees, returned\r\nto Washington today for a vote to override President Donald Trump's veto of the\r\nNational\r\nDefense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2021. \"I expect we will override President Trump's veto of\r\nthe military bill,\" Sen. Coons said, \"which means several good things\r\nfor Delawareans and the country writ large including a pay increase for our\r\ntroops and more investment in cybersecurity, both steps that we should be taking\r\nto reward the sacrifice of our military and keep our country safe.\" The override of a\r\nveto, the process by which each chamber of Congress votes for\r\na second time on a bill rejected by the president, requires a two-thirds vote\r\nin each the Senate and House of Representatives. Congress has historically overridden fewer than\r\n10% of all presidential vetoes. The Senate is scheduled to convene and resume consideration of\r\nthe veto message on the NDAA for FY21 at noon tomorrow. The final override will\r\nget a vote sometime in the next few days.
