{"database": "press", "table": "releases", "rows": [["https://www.corker.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/news-list?ContentRecord_id=88D045F4-12C2-4A48-B715-B3771C45F233", "Corker Working Feverishly With Colleagues, Administration to Improve Tax Reform Legislation", "2017-11-28", "2017", "2017-11", "Republican", "House", "TN", "Bob Corker", "C001071", "www.corker.senate.gov", null, null, "legacy", "WASHINGTON \u2013 In an interview on \u201cFox &amp; Friends\u201d, U.S. Senator Bob Corker (R-Tenn.), a member of the Senate Budget Committee, today discussed his work to improve the Senate tax reform legislation by putting in place a \u201ctrigger\u201d mechanism that would ensure fiscal responsibility should economic growth estimates not be realized.\r\n\u201cI think all of us want to get across the finish line, and we are trying to make this bill one that not only serves our immediate interests as a nation but also our long-term interests,\u201d said Corker. \u201cEverybody is working feverishly right now to try to get to that place.\u201d\r\n\u201cFor the last 13 days, Brian, we have been working with the finance committee and over the Thanksgiving holiday\u2026 very feverishly with the White House \u2013 both [White House National Economic Council Director] Gary Cohn, [Treasury Secretary] Steve Mnuchin, who was in my office yesterday, [White House Chief of Staff] John Kelly, and others \u2013 to try to create a backstop, or a trigger mechanism, that to the extent the growth estimates that have been laid out aren\u2019t achieved, we don\u2019t pass on even greater debt to our children,\u201d added Corker. \u201cWe are working on that right now and hopefully we\u2019re going to be successful.\u201d\r\n\u201cWhat you don\u2019t want to do is create uncertainty as businesses are making decisions down the road,\u201d continued Corker. \u201cAnd you don\u2019t want to do something that stifles growth.
