Plans to Protect Americans Abroad?\n\nWashington, D.C. \u2014 Senator Tom Cotton (R-Arkansas) today sent a letter to Secretary of State Antony Blinken and requested a classified briefing on the State Department\u2019s planning to ensure the safety of Americans who might be in areas where conflict will escalate.\n\nFull text of the letter may be found here and below.\n\nOctober 20, 2023\n\nThe Honorable Antony Blinken\n\nSecretary\n\nU.S. Department of State\n\n2201 C Street, N.W.\n\nWashington, D.C. 20520\n\nDear Secretary Blinken,\n\nYesterday, the State Department issued a notice for United States citizens in the Middle East, recommending \u201cworldwide caution\u201d and planning due to \u201cincreased tensions in various locations around the world, [and] the potential for terrorist attacks, demonstrations or violent actions against U.S. citizens and interests.\u201d Ensuring the safety and security of Americans abroad is a critical duty of the United States government.
