An additional 103 Republican Members of Congress signed the letter.\n\n\u201cCDFIs play an important role in supporting economic development in rural, tribal and other underserved communities in our states,\u201d the letter reads. \u201cThey enhance the viability of community development projects, especially in rural areas, by offering flexible financing tools such as longer loan terms and interest-only repayment periods.\u201d\n\n\u201cIt is unclear how these programs will continue to operate if the CDFI Fund\u2019s obligations cease to function,\u201d the letter continues.\n\n\u201cWe stand ready to work with the Administration to make additional improvements at the Fund to ensure it fulfills its purpose of serving communities left behind by the federal government and the traditional finance sector,\u201d the letter concludes.\n\nThe letter also highlights certain programs administered by the Fund, including:\n\nThe New Markets Tax Credit program, which has created over one million jobs since the credit\u2019s creation and was made permanent under the President\u2019s One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA); and\n\nThe Capital Magnet Fund, which scales housing investments to build new housing and pairs with the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit, also permanently expanded by the OBBBA, to address the nation\u2019s housing shortage.\n\nText of the letter is available HERE.\n\nSenator Crapo is the co-chair of the Senate Community Development Finance Caucus.\n\n###", 1, "2026-03-30T01:40:41Z", "2026-04-06T19:32:54Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://www.crapo.senate.gov/media/newsreleases/crapo-leads-more-than-100-members-of-congress-to-reaffirm-support-for-cdfi-fund"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 0.8224346674978733, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
