The Senators are raising alarm over Executive Order 14019 given it potentially violates the Antideficiency Act, which explicitly prohibits agencies from expending federal funds without Congressional authorization.\n\n\u201cWe are concerned by your failure to respond to our previous inquiry on May 10, 2023, regarding Executive Order 14019 on \u2018Promoting Access to Voting,\u2019\u201d the Senators wrote. \u201cThis policy directive merits congressional oversight both as a general matter and under the Antideficiency Act. Accordingly, we write to reiterate our request for information regarding the implementation of this executive order, including copies of the plans submitted to the White House.\u201d\n\n\u201cFederal agencies should be focused on their defined missions in a nonpartisan manner, not using taxpayer funds for voter mobilization efforts with potentially partisan impacts,\u201d the Senators continued. \u201cIn other words, it\u2019s not the job of the federal government to drive voter turnout.\u201d\n\nIn order to determine the voter mobilization and electioneering activities to which the Biden Administration has devoted taxpayer resources, the Senators once again requested that the Biden Administration provide the American people the following basic information:\n\nCopies of all federal agency \u201cstrategic plans\u201d required under the Order and a list of which agencies have not yet submitted a strategic plan;\n\nThe strategic plan required by the General Services Administration under the Order;\n\nThe recommendations provided by the Office of Personnel Management under the Order; and\n\nAll procedures established by the Attorney General under the Order.", 1, "2026-03-30T01:40:41Z", "2026-04-08T01:14:16Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://www.crapo.senate.gov/media/newsreleases/crapo-risch-hagerty-demanding-answers-on-admins-taxpayer-funded-voter-mobilization-plans"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 0.9349253959953785, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
