Senators Maria Cantwell and Patty Murray (both D-Washington) also remembered the firefighters and commended Washington first responders for their assistance to the community.\n\nTo view their remarks, click HERE or the image above.\n\nText of Senator Crapo\u2019s remarks is below:\n\n\u201cThe Senate has important work to accomplish today to prevent a more-than $4 trillion tax hike on American workers and families.\n\n\u201cWe will accomplish that goal.\n\n\u201cHowever, while business continues here, life for the north Idaho community of Coeur d\u2019Alene remains at a very painful standstill as we mourn the horrific loss of two firefighters.\n\n\u201cYesterday afternoon, firefighters from Coeur d\u2019Alene and Kootenai County were responding to a fire on Canfield Mountain.\n\n\u201cUpon arrival, they were ambushed by gunfire.\n\n\u201cTwo brave firefighters were murdered.\n\n\u201cAnother has already undergone surgery for gunshot wounds.\n\n\u201cAs we continue our work today, I ask my colleagues to join me sending your prayers for that firefighter\u2019s full recovery, the deceased victims, their families and the entire north Idaho community grieving this heinous act.\n\n[\u2026]\n\n\u201cThere was a huge influx of support from those who put their lives on the line every day, and some lost their lives yesterday. I ask you join us for a moment of silence and prayer.\u201d\n\nText of Senator Risch\u2019s remarks is below:\n\n\u201cWhile the Senate continues our important work to provide the American people with the largest tax cut in history today, we would be remiss if we did not pause for a moment and call attention to the tragic events that took place in Coeur d\u2019Alene yesterday.\n\n\u201cWhile responding to a fire, two of North Idaho\u2019s brave firefighters were ambushed and murdered.
