For far too long, I have seen the suffering at the border, and I\u2019ve seen it firsthand. While talking with Jesse, I called on President Biden and his administration to stop their lawlessness that\u2019s allowing millions into our country illegally, endangering Texans, and undermining our national security.\n\nTo watch the full discussion, click above \u2191\n\nThis past weekend, I joined The Washington Examiner\u2019s David Drucker to discuss a multitude of topics at this year\u2019s Texas TribFest in Austin. David and I were able to cover immigration, the Second Amendment, and more!\n\n\u201cAmericans don\u2019t want 87,000 new IRS agents. We need to use that funding to secure our southern border instead!\u201d\n\nThe night before, I was privileged to speak to a group of Christian Texans at the Texas Faith, Family & Freedom Forum. We had an important discussion about what\u2019s affecting Texas families, including educational disparities and gaps exacerbated by the Democrats\u2019 decision to shut down schools amidst COVID-19, inflation, and the worst illegal immigration in 62 years.\n\nTuesday, I voted against the Electoral Count Reform Act. This is a bad bill that will decrease the ability of Congress to address the problem of voter fraud and undermine our democratic process.\n\nTo see what I had to say about my no vote on the ECRA, click above \u2191\n\nI have serious constitutional questions about the bill. The text of the Constitution, Article Two says, \u201cEach State shall appoint, in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct, a Number of Electors.\u201d This bill is Congress trying to intrude on the authority of the state legislatures to do that. But it\u2019s also exceptionally bad policy. What this bill does is decreases the ability of Congress to address instances of fraud when it occurs, and I believe Congress has a responsibility to address fraud.\n\nSee my full statement here.\n\nWednesday, I accepted the George \u201cBuck\u201d Gillespie Congressional Award from the Blinded American Veterans Association. In my home state of Texas, we have 15 military bases, and veterans comprise seven percent of the Texas population of 30 million people. In the Senate, I take very seriously my responsibility to make sure our veterans and our active duty military are supported and have what they need to thrive. I think it\u2019s one of our most important responsibilities to honor and support the brave men and women who wear our nation\u2019s uniform while they are serving and when they come home.\n\nSee my full statement here.\n\nRest assured, I will always be a tireless leader in supporting Texas military and veterans communities, just as I will always be a fierce advocate for all Texans.\n\nOn Thursday, we saw Democrats employ the same scheme we\u2019ve seen again and again: instead of doing the hard work of eliminating unnecessary spending\u2014which would help lower inflation\u2014and rather than making tough decisions that prioritize spending to meet the needs of the American people, Congress dithered for a year and is now passing a continuing resolution into December, which sets the stage for a lame duck spending bonanza. I could not support a bill that enables lame duck Democrats to spend over a trillion dollars at the end of the year and continue funding for 87,000 new IRS agents to go after hardworking American taxpayers. Instead of funding President Biden\u2019s shadow IRS army, we should secure our southern border and stop illegal immigration.\n\nKeep Texas Strong,\n\nMORE FROM SEN.
