Ted Cruz (R-Texas) joined Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) and 35 Senate Republican colleagues in introducing the Back the Blue Act. This legislation would increase penalties for criminals who target law enforcement officers and provide new tools for officers to protect themselves.\n\nUpon introduction, Sen. Cruz said, \u201cLaw enforcement officers dutifully and heroically protect our communities across Texas and across the country. We cannot and should not tolerate criminals who kill or attempt to kill law enforcement officers. They should face the full force of the law. I am proud to stand with my colleagues in support of the Back the Blue Act, and I urge Congress to pass this bill without delay.\u201d\n\nSen.
