I urge the full Senate to act quickly, and I will keep pushing for passage of this bipartisan legislation, because these miners deserve the benefits they were promised and earned.\u201d\r\nIn Indiana, roughly 3,000 retired miners are receiving pension benefits and 1,500 are receiving health benefits and, without action, their benefits are at risk. Donnelly\u00a0spoke in support\u00a0of the Miners Protection Act\u00a0on the Senate floor in June, joining a bipartisan group of Senators calling for the Senate to act. Subsequently, Donnelly and the senators received a commitment that the bill would see committee action, which occurred today.
