UI Labs has joined with Purdue University, Indiana University, and the University of Notre Dame, as well as industry leaders to participate in this unique public-private partnership. I encourage Secretary Hagel to support the proposal.\u201d\r\n\u201cI encourage the Department of Defense to seriously consider UI Labs\u2019 Digital Lab for Manufacturing proposal,\u201d said Rokita.\u00a0 \u201cIndiana is a proven leader in manufacturing and advanced manufacturing.\u00a0 From cars and trucks to innovative medical devices, leading manufactures from across the county and around the world are relocating to Indiana.\u00a0 With a top-notch transportation infrastructure and excellent universities, there is no better place for the Department of Defense to invest than in Indiana\u2014the Cross Roads of America.\u201d\r\nThe DMDI Institute will be funded by the Department of Defense and will provide the proving ground to link promising information technologies tools, standards, models, sensors, controls, practices and skills, and then transition these capabilities to the industrial base for full scale application. By advancing digital manufacturing technologies, the Institute will create new opportunities for manufacturers and help create high-wage, high-skill jobs for American workers.\r\nThe letter was also signed by Reps.
