Dixon by directing the Secretary of the Air Force to designate a facility located on Scott Air Force Base in his honor.\r\nAs Chairman of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense, Durbin originally inserted the provision in the Fiscal Year 2015 Defense Appropriations Bill which was included in the bill that was introduced yesterday.\r\nScott Air Force Base was always one of Alan Dixon's highest priorities both as a United States Senator and member of the Base Closing Commission, Durbin said. It is fitting that Senator Dixon will be honored for his work on behalf of Scott.\r\nShortly after Dixon passed away in July at the age of 86, Durbin paid tribute to his life and legacy on the United States Senate floor. Additionally, the United States Senate unanimously approved a resolution introduced by Durbin and Mark Kirk (R-IL) honoring Dixon.
