This funding, provided by the Department of Housing and Urban Development\u2019s Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (HUD-VASH) program, will assist homeless veterans around Chicago with affordable housing and an array of supportive services.   \u00a0  \u201cLast night, in Illinois alone, almost 1,000 homeless veterans were on the street. Nationally, the number of homeless veterans nears 40,000,\u201d said Durbin. \u201cThis country can do better\u2014and must do better\u2014for the brave men and women who have served our nation honorably.
