This funding, provided by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, will help these centers expand outreach and enrollment assistance efforts as more Illinoisans are able to access affordable health insurance coverage through the healthcare reform law.\r\n\r\nCommunity health centers serve an important purpose for families in Illinois and across the country, Durbin said. With the help of these federal resources, made available through the Affordable Care Act, Illinois health centers can provide expanded assistance for individuals looking for resources to help them understand their insurance options and enroll into affordable health insurance plans coverage.\r\n\r\nIllinois has 42 health centers with 548 sites that served 1,142,381 patients last year, nearly 30 percent of them uninsured.
