Period.’ Well, as millions of Americans are unfortunately finding out, that just isn’t the case,” said Enzi. “Henry Ford said that customers could have his Model T in any color they wanted so long it is black. Sounds similar to what the president has promised with health care. If you like your current plan you can keep it, as long as it’s a model we choose. I offered a proposal three years ago to give people the honest choice to keep their plans, but every one of the majority party in the Senate voted against it.
“These insurance cancellation notices are a wakeup call to the American public, even ones who initially supported the law. It’s hurting the economy and it’s actually making health insurance less affordable. The one-size-fits-all approach that this Administration likes to push is hurting our country and we need more people in Congress that understand this. My hope is that even my Democrat colleagues are seeing the light. If not, I hope their constituents hold their feet to the fire and keep them accountable,” said Enzi.
When Sebelius did not directly address the president’s broken promise, Enzi added, “I’m not worried about the insurers. I’m worried about the individuals who lost their policies that they like. Not only are they losing their policies, they are losing the doctors they like to go to and in some cases the hospitals too.”
Enzi is currently working on a bill with Senator Ron Johnson and 36 others to allow Americans to keep health care plans they liked before Obamacare forced cancelations.
Click here to watch video of the Nov. 6 Finance Committee hearing comments to Sebelius.
Click here to download video of the Nov. 6 Finance Committee hearing comments to Sebelius.
Related video: Nov. 5 FOX News interview with Megyn Kelly.
Related video: 2010 Senate floor Enzi fix that would have prevented millions from losing health insurance.", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at
url
https://www.enzi.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/news-releases?ContentRecord_id=4b686053-58cb-4e3a-ab87-9217598994e7
