Until Congress can agree to a spending plan to continue funding the federal government, federal offices including Senate offices will discontinue most services.\u00a0\r\nSenator Enzi will retain only those staff necessary to bring the normal functions of his offices to a close.\u00a0 From that point only one of his five state offices will open each day on a rotating basis.\u00a0 He will further reduce staffing in Washington, D.C. to an appropriations/budget policy advisor, and personnel to take phone messages.\u00a0 \r\nConstituent mail and email inquiries, tours, requests for help with federal agencies (casework), flag requests, as well as updates to Enzi\u2019s website, Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube portals and other services will resume when funding is restored.\r\nThis is a partial government shutdown.\u00a0 In addition to members of Congress fulfilling their Constitutional duty, federal workers involved in activities related to safeguarding human life and property will continue working \u2013 the military, TSA, and air traffic controllers, for example.\u00a0 Social Security checks will continue to be mailed.\u00a0 The President has discretion to determine what parts of the executive branch will continue to function and what parts won\u2019t.\u00a0 For more information about a particular department or agency, please check its website.\u00a0\r\nFederal employees will not be paid during the shutdown.\u00a0 The Fair Labor Standards Act requires that employees who did work during the shutdown be compensated once a funding bill has been passed.\u00a0 \u00a0\r\nAt this time, there is no way of knowing when full operations of the federal government will resume.\u00a0 That is completely dependent on when Congress and the President are able to agree on funding.", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://www.enzi.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/news-releases?ContentRecord_id=683660c6-1549-4726-b11d-b2d04a688190"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 0.9793383069336414, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
