Unfortunately overcapacity in China has hurt Wyoming’s ability to export its own natural soda ash, which is an important chemical required to manufacture other material, such as glass and detergent.
Enzi, Barrasso and U.S. Representative Cynthia Lummis, R-Wyo., recently sent a letter to the U.S. Department of Commerce and the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative, urging those two agencies to work with China to resolve the soda ash overcapacity issue in the upcoming U.S.-China Joint Commission on Commerce and Trade later this year.
“China’s soda ash overcapacity is the culmination of nearly 30 years of industrial policies aimed at spurring soda ash production even in the face of diminished demand,” the delegation wrote.
The full text of the letter is available for download HERE.

In Wyoming and across the country the true face of Obamacare is revealing itself as health care prices soar and competition within the health insurance industry vanishes, according to Enzi.
Enzi took to the Senate floor recently to lament how Wyoming, and a growing number of states, are hurting as they are left with only one insurer available on the Obamacare exchanges. Click here for video.

Senate Budget Committee Chairman Mike Enzi called for bipartisan solutions to fix America’s broken budget process during a forum focused on budget process reform.
Enzi talked about the importance of budget process reform and gave several examples. He said now is the time to act as America’s mammoth debt is expected to skyrocket to more than $28 trillion in the next decade. Click here for video.", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at
url
https://www.enzi.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/newsletter-archives?ContentRecord_id=F57B5BFC-86E8-493F-B1CD-03994E5E889A
