The Protecting Children and America\u2019s Homeland Act was introduced by Senator John Cornyn (R-TX).\r\nNational Labor Relations Reform Act \u2013 would reform the National Labor Relations Board by ending partisan advocacy, rein in the general counsel and encourage timely decision-making. The National Labor Relations Reform Act, S. 2814, is led by Senator Lamar Alexander (R-TN) and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY).\r\nPassed the National Bison Day Resolution \u2013 on September 17th the Senate passed S.Res 543, which designates November 1, 2014 as National Bison Day. The measure was introduced by Senator Mike Enzi.\r\nNational Character Counts Week Resolution \u2013 would designate the week of October 19, 2014 as \u201cNational Character Counts Week.\u201d\u00a0The resolution calls the nation's attention to the benefits of good character and character education, with the hope that children across the nation will participate in character building activities in their schools. S. Res 272 is led by Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA).\r\nSmall Business Saturday Resolution \u2013 would designate November 29, 2014 as Small Business Saturday. Letter was cosigned by Senator John Barrasso (R-WY) and Representative Cynthia Lummis (R-WY).\r\nDesignating Russian Separatist Groups in Ukraine as Terrorists - requested President Obama to designate separatist groups in Ukraine suspected of shooting down Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 as foreign terrorist organizations.\r\nRequested a Plan on ISIS fighters Holding US Passports -\u00a0requested the Administration provide a plan and additional information on ISIS fighters holding U.S. passports or visas. Letter led by Senator John Thune (R-SD) and Senator Bob Corker (R-TN) to Secretary of State John Kerry and Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson.\r\nConcern with Compliance for Educational Disability Programs - expressed concern and requested information about the U.S. Department of Education\u2019s recent decision to base determination of a state\u2019s compliance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) in part on the performance and participation rate of students with disabilities on the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP). Letter was led by Senator Lamar Alexander (R-TN) and sent to the U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan.\r\nSupporting Flexibility in Programs of All Inclusive Care for the Elderly -\u00a0 endorsed flexibility in site and program function for the Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly\u00a0(PACE) to allow them to be more efficient and reach more of their target population, many of whom are dually eligible for Medicare and Medicaid. Letter was led by Senator Mike Enzi and Senator Joe Donnelly (D-IN) to Treasury Secretary Jack Lew.\r\nCall Completion Letter to FCC \u2013 urged the Federal Communication Commissions to complete its work on an order it approved unanimously in October 2013 to address and better identify call completion problems. The commission solicited comments and feedback on the order, but has not followed through to complete the process since the comment period ended.
