Senator Fetterman released the following statement in response:\n\n\u201cThe House GOP can\u2019t seem to grasp that impeachment is a constitutional tool reserved for cases of \u2018high crimes and misdemeanors,\u2019 not political vendettas. These efforts by Speaker Johnson and the House GOP to cheapen a solemn process like impeachment for political gain set a bad precedent and divert attention from the real problem: the crisis at our border.\n\n\u201cThis stunt is nothing more than bad performance art and a waste of time. House Republicans are doing everything they can to turn the United States Congress into the Jerry Springer Show. It\u2019s charades like this that make people hate Washington.\n\n\u201cLet\u2019s get to work, pass a bill to secure our border, and do our jobs.\u201d\n\nFetterman has been clear that he supports comprehensive immigration reform to address the crisis at the border. He has repeatedly called out Republicans for walking away from the February deal and urged them to return to the negotiating table to secure the border.\n\nSenator Fetterman believes we must reject the false choice between strong borders and a system that treats people with dignity. America can and must have both \u2013 a system that is strong, secure, and humane. He supports investments to strengthen the borders and prevent the flow of illegal drugs into our country.
