I am thankful my colleagues understand the importance of this legislation and the national security risks we face.\u201d\n\nThe Secure Space Act prohibits the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) from granting satellite licenses or U.S. market access for foreign-licensed satellite systems to any entity or its affiliates that produce or provide communications equipment, or services deemed a national security risk.\n\nThis legislation amends the Secure and Trusted Communications Networks Act of 2019 to extend this prohibition to both geostationary and non-geostationary orbit satellite systems and includes gateway stations within its scope. It applies to new licenses and authorizations issued after the bill's enactment and requires the FCC to establish implementing regulations within one year.\n\nBackground:\n\nThe Secure Space Act was passed by the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation on April 14, 2026. Fischer is a member of the committee and serves as Chairman of the Subcommittee on Telecommunications and Media.\n\nSee bill text here.\n\n###", 1, "2026-09-25T10:04:52Z", "2026-09-25T10:05:46Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["https://www.fischer.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/news?ID=271765AC-5AC9-4BE6-B339-72987B1A1E75"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 1.6536170151084661, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
