This funding will support the final phase and reconstruction of Runway 18/36 at the airport.\n\nDue to the significant length of Runway 18/36, the Department of Defense uses the runway for unique military missions, which are primarily carried out by the Nebraska National Guard to support both state and national defense activities.\n\n\u201cI\u2019m pleased that, after much steady advocacy, the Lincoln Airport will receive the funds necessary to complete the refurbishment of one of its runways that plays a crucial role in the operations of our Nebraska National Guard and other national security missions. This has been many years in the making, and I look forward to seeing this project come to a final completion,\u201d Fischer said.\n\nFischer\u2019s advocacy for the Lincoln Airport:\n\nFischer has long championed the Lincoln Airport runway rebuild project.
