The repatriation of these artifacts and remains were made possible thanks to engagement by the Tribes and the Trump Administration's diplomatic work with Finland.\r\n\r\nNOTE:Clickhereor the picture above to download Senator Gardner's remarks.\r\nThe Ancestral Pueblo sites in Southwest Colorado are home to some of the most well-preserved artifacts and ancient dwellings in our entirecountry. They are apartof our stateand our nation's history  and todayI want to thankthePresident for helping bringpart of Colorado's history back home,said Senator Gardner.Nearly 130 years ago, a number of remains and artifacts belonging to the Ancestral Pueblo were excavated from an area that is now Mesa Verde National Park. This past weekend, thanks to engagement by the Tribes, as well as the President and his Administration's diplomatic work with Finland, these remains and artifacts were returned home and local Tribes were able to hold a proper burial ceremony on the Tribes' ancestral land near Durango. Returning these items to their proper resting place was important for the Tribes, for our state, and for our entire country, and I will continue my efforts to support Colorado's two federally recognized Tribes, the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe and the Southern Ute Indian Tribe, as well as other federally recognized Tribes across the nation.\r\n###\r\nCory Gardner is a member of the U.S. Senate serving Colorado.
