U.S. Senator Cory Gardner (R-CO) welcomed the announcement from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) that Denver County will receive $4,407,357 in expedited federal funding for emergency protective measures as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, including establishing a community-based COVID-19 testing site.\r\nDuring this time of uncertainty, we must ensure that every community in Colorado has the resources they need to combat COVID-19,said Senator Gardner.This important funding from FEMA will allow Denver County to expand its testing capacity to help stop the spread of COVID-19. I will keep fighting to provide Coloradans with the resources needed to get through this public health crisis.\r\nThis funding is authorized under the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act (the Stafford Act) and comes as a result of the President approving the state of Colorado's Disaster Declaration, whichGardner and members of the Colorado delegation urged. In addition to this funding, Colorado received$12.4 millionfrom FEMA on June 8,$14.6 millionon May 14,$10.2 millionon April 27,over $1.5 millionon April 20,$4 millionon April 15, andnearly $17 millionon April 7.\r\nIn July, Gardner introduced the bipartisanTimely and Effective Systematic Testing (TEST) Act, which would strengthen the nation's health preparedness efforts for COVID-19 recovery and future pandemics.
