Thank you to Senator Gillibrand for her advocacy and continued commitment to bringing federal resources to the Bronx.”

Food Bank For NYC is the city’s largest hunger relief organization, and its 90,000 square foot Hunts Point Distribution Center is the city’s largest hunger relief logistics hub. Last year, more than 90 million pounds of food was distributed through the Food Bank For NYC network, including nearly 31 million pounds of produce.

Since 2019, visits to New York City food pantries have increased by 82%. Meanwhile the Trump administration has slashed the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and caused prices for groceries to skyrocket. More than 1.6 million people in New York City rely on SNAP, but with new expanded work requirements and eligibility rules, 223,000 New Yorkers are at risk of losing food assistance. Additionally, with the federal government shifting substantial SNAP costs to states, New York State, counties, and the city will be on the hook for an estimated $1.3 billion in administrative and benefits costs annually.

###", 1, "2026-09-22T09:42:49Z", "2026-09-22T09:44:35Z
url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at
url
https://www.gillibrand.senate.gov/news/press/release/gillibrand-celebrates-6-million-investment-for-food-bank-for-nycs-hunts-point-food-distribution-center/
