Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) today applauded Senate passage of the annual National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) to support our military and fund critical national security priorities. The legislation, which includes several Grassley-backed provisions, now heads to the president\u2019s desk to be signed into law.\n\n\u201cNational security is the number one responsibility of the federal government,\u201d Grassley said. \u201cFrom investing in Iowa\u2019s military installations, to ensuring U.S. dominance on the world stage, this bill prioritizes our country\u2019s ability to keep Americans safe.\u201d\n\nDownload video of Grassley discussing the NDAA HERE.\n\nGrassley secured the following priorities in the FY25 NDAA:\n\nThe Grassley-led Destruction Initiative for Stored Precursors Overseas and Safe Enforcement (DISPOSE) Act to boost precursor chemical destruction efforts and prevent illicit opioid manufacturing.\n\nThe Grassley-led Administrative False Claims Act to strengthen efforts to target smaller, and potentially more frequent, instances of fraud against the government.\n\nThe Grassley-backed Law Enforcement and Victim Support Act to protect victims and empower law enforcements\u2019 prosecution of child abusers.\n\nA provision to require the DOD identify parts for reverse engineering, which will save taxpayer dollars, boost competition in the defense industrial base and benefit small businesses around the country.\n\nAdditional NDAA highlights include:\n\nAuthorization of federal funds to support Iowa\u2019s military installations through:\n\nConstruction of a new field maintenance shop for the Sioux City Armory;\n\nSupport for the Rock Island Arsenal\u2019s Energy Resilience and Conservation Investment Program project to provide secure, self-sufficient energy.\n\nA 4.5 percent pay raise for all service members, 14.5 percent pay raise for junior enlisted members and a 2 percent pay raise for civilian employees.\n\nFull funding for joint U.S.-Israel cooperative missile defense programs, including the Iron Dome, David\u2019s Sling and Arrow. Grassley is a firm supporter of Israel\u2019s right to self-defense.\n\nA provision prohibiting universities with Chinese Communist Party-ties from receiving DOD funding.
