That\u2019s why Senator Cassidy and I teamed up to protect patients and ban this abusive practice. I\u2019m glad that our legislation has prevented more than nine million surprise bills just this year, and I\u2019ll keep working to bring down health care costs,\u201d said Senator Hassan.\n\nSenators Hassan and Cassidy led the effort to address surprise medical billing, and at the end of 2020, passed into law the No Surprises Act.
