The legislation comes alongside the launch of President Trump\u2019s \u2018America Prays\u2019 initiative.\n\n\u201cOur national motto goes all the way back to the days of President Lincoln. Congress adopted \u2018In God We Trust\u2019 as our national motto in 1956 during the rise of atheist communism, and it remains our national motto today,\u201d said Senator Hawley. \u201cThe In God We Trust Act will ensure that the federal government\u2014as well as the American people for whom it works\u2014never forgets the ultimate source of the liberty and prosperity this country enjoys.
