{"database": "press", "table": "releases", "rows": [["https://www.heitkamp.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/press-releases?ContentRecord_id=359F3E4A-79B0-49F4-8CA2-25E979F974C7", "Heitkamp Nominates Eight ND Students to Military Service Academies", "2017-11-17", "2017", "2017-11", "Democrat", "House", "ND", "Heidi Heitkamp", "H001069", "www.heitkamp.senate.gov", null, null, "legacy", "WASHINGTON, D.C. \u2013 U.S. Senator Heidi Heitkamp announced that she nominated eight outstanding North Dakota students to the nation\u2019s military service academies.\r\nHeitkamp nominated Morgan Adams of Wahpeton, Daniel Carroll of Dickinson, Tony Heidelberg of Underwood, Jarek Hogue of Watford City, Olivia Nellermoe of West Fargo, Rowyn Schollmeyer of Bismarck, Adrianna Wilder of Minot, and John Lynch from a North Dakota military family.\r\n\u201cOur nation\u2019s military leaders are some of the best and brightest this country has to offer,\u201d said Heitkamp. \u201cMany got their start at one of the military service academies and I\u2019m privileged to announce eight incredibly talented and smart North Dakotans who I nominated to attend these military academies. Each of them have demonstrated they are hardworking, determined, and eager to serve, and I hope more young North Dakotan\u2019s look to them as examples as they may consider careers in the military.\u201d\r\nMembers of Congress are able to nominate students to attend the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado; the United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, New York; the United States Military Academy in West Point, New York; and the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.\r\nBelow are further details on the students Heitkamp has nominated:\r\n \r\nMorgan Adams \u2013 United States Air Force Academy\r\n \r\nAdams, from Wahpeton, is a graduate of Richland 44 High School and is currently enlisted in the North Dakota National Guard as well as being a first responder for the Ambercrombie Fire and Rescue in Richland County. In high school, she was actively involved in varsity softball, National Honor Society, student council, speech, academic team, band, and choir, and continues to be involved with FFA.\r\n \r\nDaniel Carroll \u2013 Merchant Marine\r\n \r\nCarroll, from Dickinson, is currently a senior at Dickinson High School where he participates in Math Club, FBLA, and Close-Up as well as plays varsity football and runs cross country. Carroll is also a Technical Sergeant in the Civil Air Patrol.\r\n \r\nTony Heidelberg \u2013 United States Air Force Academy\r\n \r\nHeidelberg, from Underwood, is currently enlisted with the United States Air Force at the Ellsworth Air Force Base in South Dakota. He graduated from Underwood High School as Valedictorian where he was involved with 4H, band, and choir as well as playing varsity football, basketball, and baseball.\r\n \r\nJarek Hogue \u2013 Naval Academy\r\n \r\nHogue, from Watford City, attends Watford City High School. He has demonstrated his leadership abilities as captain of the varsity football team as well as by being active in student council and Boy Scouts.\r\n \r\nOlivia Nellermoe \u2013 United States Military Academy, West Point\r\n \r\nNellermoe, from West Fargo, currently attends the United States Air Force Preparatory School in Colorado. Nellermoe has excelled in her academics at the U.S. Air Force Preparatory School where she has been involved with athletics.\r\n \r\nRowyn Schollmeyer \u2013 United States Military Academy, West Point\r\n \r\nSchollmeyer, from Bismarck, is currently a senior at Century High School where she is ranked first in her class. She is a member of the National Honor Society, DECA, and plays in the orchestra as well as on the varsity soccer team. Schollmeyer has global experience from attending school in Beijing and can speak Mandarin.\r\n \r\nAdrianna Wilder \u2013 United States Air Force Academy\r\n \r\nWilder, from Minot, is currently a senior at Minot High School where she is ranked first in her class. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Student Government, Key Club and has completed seven AP college classes. Wilder competes with the USA Track &amp; Field as a Junior Olympic All-American for Track and Field as well as runs with her high school\u2019s varsity track and cross country teams. She also volunteers with the Warrior Network.\r\n \r\nJohn Lynch \u2013 Merchant Marine\r\n \r\nLynch, from a North Dakota military family, is currently attending Point Pleasant Beach High School in New Jersey where he is a member of the National Honors Society, is on the honor roll, and has received the Presidents Education Award.
