U.S. Senator Heidi Heitkamp today announced that she nominated six outstanding North Dakota students to the nation's military service academies.\r\nHeitkamp nominated Ian Pytlik of Horace, Ruby Romsland from a North Dakota military family, Spencer Weisgram of West Fargo, Colton Willits of Walhalla, Morgan Adams of Richland County, and London Lambrecht of Bismarck.\r\nNorth Dakota knows how to honor service to our nation and raise outstanding leaders for our military, Heitkamp said. This impressive group of nominees should be applauded for their desire to serve, and I know they'll represent North Dakota and our nation well.\r\nMembers of Congress are able to nominate students to attend the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado; the United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, New York; the United States Military Academy in West Point, New York; and the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.\r\nBelow are further details on the students Heitkamp has nominated:\r\nIan Pytlik  United States Naval Academy\r\nIan, from Horace, is a senior at NAME OF HIGH SCHOOL. Ian is active in various athletics, clubs and organizations, including student council, Key Club, hockey, football, baseball, and the Boy Scouts. He is currently working on his Eagle Scout project.\r\nRuby Romsland - United States Military Academy, West Point\r\nRuby is from a North Dakota military family, and her dad is a Navy Seal. She aspires to attend medical school and continue her family's tradition of military service.\r\nSpencer Weisgram  United States Military Academy, West Point\r\nSpencer, from West Fargo, currently attends Culver Academies in Indiana. Spencer is on Honor Council, plays in the Culver hockey program, and is a member of the Culver Cadet Club and drill team.\r\nColton Willits  United States Air Force Academy\r\nColton, from Walhalla, attends North Border Walhalla High School. He has participated in Boys State and the North Dakota Leadership Seminar, and served as captain of the varsity football team.\r\nMorgan Adams  United States Air Force Academy\r\nMorgan, from Richland County, is enlisted in the North Dakota Air National Guard. She graduated from Richland 44 High School where she was involved with varsity softball, rifle team, and FFA. Morgan has begun taking college courses with Community College of the Air Force.\r\nLondon Lambrecht United States Merchant Marine Academy\r\nLondon, from Bismarck, is a senior at Shiloh Christian School.
