Heitkamp is seeking motivated individuals who want experiential education in public service. The internship program is a hands-on learning experience, allowing interns to work side-by-side with Heitkamp\u2019s Senate professional staff as they work on behalf of North Dakotans.\r\n\u201cThere\u2019s nothing more encouraging than seeing North Dakota\u2019s young people engaged in the political process,\u201d Heitkamp said. \u201cInterns in my office have the chance to serve North Dakota, while also gaining real-world skills and witnessing government in action.\u201d\r\nWashington, D.C. interns work in the areas of legislation, press, or scheduling and help ensure the smooth operation of her Capitol Hill office. In North Dakota, interns work alongside outreach staff and have the opportunity to learn about the constituent advocacy process firsthand.
